Stephen West takes you on a shawl journey
Join Stephen as he takes you on a shawl journey beginning with his very first triangular shawl pattern, Boneyard Shawl. You will experiment with stripes, short rows, and increases to transform your triangles into shapely shawl evolution. Ten years later, Stephen is still creating adventurous shawl shapes that transform from simple architectural forms into more complex splashy displays of colour.
There will be time in the last half of class to cast on your own shawl project. Bring yarn and your chosen Westknits shawl if you would like to cast on one of Stephen’s shawl patterns.
Five to ten leftover bits of colour to knit a little sampler shawl
Five to ten colours of fingering weight or DK weight (4 ply or 6 ply) wool to play with
Mohair and alpaca yarns are encouraged to add some texture to your project. Bring wound yarn and pattern to cast on during the end of class if you want to start a Westknits pattern.
Skill Level: Adventurous Beginner – Advanced. Knitters must know how to knit and purl.
