I just caught the last of them. Vintage tractors, fewer this year than last, flew by this morning including one with pink flowers painted on it.

Ruby Lafant products now available in China

Jess Yang and I met when she visited our farm in the summer of 2011. Now she’s Welsh Lavender’s representative in China. Jess’s first order was popular with her customers and now she’s just received her second order of Ruby Lafant products.

Harvesting and hanging out the laundry

I’ve been cutting and bundling Imperial Gem all day. Glorious.

The lower field is suddenly fattening up and turning purple, on schedule, even with all the rain and limited sun. We’re going to distil most of this, somehow.

My favourite domestic activity. Really. Today was one of the few summer days I could use the laundry line.

NGS open garden days – thank you to all who came

A few photos from our terrifically successful two open garden days. We had more than 300 hundred visitors and raised £1350 for National Gardens Scheme charities. Thank you to all who came and to those who gave their time to make it a success.

My friend Mary Frances is usually out and about photographing in places like Kyrgyzstan, Belarus and Ukraine. Last summer she brought her camera to our farm. Her Shadows of Empire exhibition on line is wonderful.

OUR SUMMER OPEN DAYS with the National Gardens Scheme

Our Welsh Lavender fields are open as part of the National Gardens Scheme on the 14th and 15th of July. Hoping for sunny skies and lots of visitors to raise money for the NGS’s very good charities.

Shaping up to be a BIG harvest this summer

Last night when it was not raining I looked down upon our lower lavender field and wondered how we’re going to cut all of this. It’s about 3 times as much as we’ve had to contend with till now. This is the new field’s 3rd summer so we will be harvesting it (and more – you can’t see it all here) for the first time. Lavender plants are bushier if cut back before they bloom the first couple of seasons.
